At the recent MSC Awards UK 2023, a short film was produced to mark 10 years of the awards, where past winners spoke about seafood sustainability and what winning the award meant to them.

Among those featured is Dr Steven Mackinson, chief scientific officer of the Scottish Pelagic Fishermen’s Organisation, whose sister group – the Scottish Pelagic Sustainability Group (SPSG) - won the MSC Ocean Leadership Award 2022.

In the film, Steve says: “No one player in the seafood industry can be responsible for sustainable outcomes, and MSC has provided a framework that has encouraged and facilitated partnership working. This is exactly the mode that SPSG works in, particularly when providing evidence in supporting sustainable fisheries.”
